So with summer break officially starting this Friday June 15, I thought I would take a moment and share with all of you my summer plans. This is the first summer over 4 years that I am not working 2 jobs and am good health, last summer my health wasn’t the best and I had a lot of things happening in our family and I had a lot of stress, and I quit my outside job that was causing me a lot of health issues from being berated and more. That job caused me to not only gain weight but my stomach swelled up all the time. After 30 days of quitting that job my swelling started to go down and my stress level went way down.
Now financially was it the best decision? No but after many talks with my husband we both decided it was the BEST decision not only for my health but for our relationship. I can tell you it’s NOT EASY to work for someone who is always making jokes about a life threatening illness and goes off about it, as well as going off on parenting. Need an example? With our kids school has and always will come FIRST- meaning if my kids are not doing their school work and or homework and turning it in then they are not allowed to go anywhere until all work is done and turned in and the teacher confirms it. We also expect decent grades do we expect all A’s NOPE we expect our kids to do their best so if their teacher says a C is their best then that’s acceptable to us, but if a teacher says they need to put more effort into their work then that’s expected. But we were berated for that as well, so I (we) choose it’s better that I don’t work there.
Now on to my summer plans- I plan on helping Faith get her hours for driver’s training she has her permit and I want to say Faith drive me to the store, Faith drive us to the park.
I also want to do beach days, maybe a park day. I also want to do some traveling with my family, but also do long weekends with my husband and friends. I also want to host some BBQ’s this summer with friends and family.
I have also made a commitment to drink more water which I have already started doing- I am drinking 40-80 ounces of water per day and hope to increase that amount.
When my toes heal (if they ever heal) I want to start walking 15-30 minutes a few times per week, and or on family bike rides.
You might see a hour or two with no deals or it may be slow some days if we have family plans but I will be here blogging just might need a little break here and there. And I hope each and everyone of you can take advantage of summer break to spend time not only with your kids, but with your spouse, friends and family. I also want you to make sure you take “me time” I know some of you will say you don’t have time for that as I used to say that all the time now I am not saying take a whole month of me time, but give yourself 30 minutes a day if possible. If I start getting stressed I like to go sit on my deck for a few minutes and that normally destresses me.
Do you have summer plans? I would love to hear what your summer plans are.
